This course aims to enhance students' communicative skills through reading, listening and speaking exercises on worldwide topics. Supplementary materials and creative projects are used to cultivate students' critical thinking and cultural literacy, and to enlarge students' vocabulary, increasing their ease and fluency in communicating ideas by different means in different situations.

Weekly assignments: 20% Participation (Weekly speeches): 15% Midterm exam (prepared speech) and project: 30% Final Project: 15% Seminar paper and presentation: 20% Syllabus uploaded here is only tentative and is subject to change depending on class progress. Students are required to participate actively in class discussion. Assignments must be submitted on time. No late assignments are accepted. No make-up exams. The instructor reserves the exclusive right to change/amend the syllabus and grading policy at her sole discretion.
