概述
The course covers the fundamental of thermodynamics and statistical mechanics -- emphasizing more on the latter. We will start with macroscopic description of thermodynamics That will be followed by building a solid background through the concepts of microcanonical, canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We will cover both classical and quantum statistics, together includes Boltzmann, Bose, and Fermi statistics. At the end I will phase transition, as well as touch on special topics that are most relevant for us "electrophysicist" and apply what we have learned to the semiconductor systems.
