The aim of this course is to enhance students' critical English reading abilities and develop students' ability to write well-developed paragraphs of college writing. Students will read a variety of texts styles with enhanced fluency following coherent and effective use of reading strategies. Students will also actively engage in extensive reading with a critical perspective (e.g., distinguishing between fact and opinion, evaluating sources, and identifying points of view). For writing, students will build their paragraph writing skills and eventually learn to the ability to write a five paragraph essay following logical division of ideas.

1. Students will engage in classroom activities in pairs throughout the semester. 2. Attendance: one point will be deducted for an absence for no reason and no point deduction for school with a proof. 3. Writing assignments: choose writing tasks from Unlock units. The assignments will be done in class on Weeks 8 and 17 respectively. 4. Q&A (discussion and feedback) will be done in pairs at the end of each unit.
15% Attendance 50% Midterm and final exams 15% 3 passage writing assignments (a minimum of 250 words each) 20% Other, including supplementary reading worksheets, quizzes, and Q&A activities
