Freshman English II is an integrated 4-skill (listening, speaking, reading, & writing) language curriculum with a focus on reading and writing. This course will address reading and paragraph writing while supporting the communicative skills addressed in the first semester. In this course, students will: develop critical reading skills, engage in reflection on readings, apply insights gained from readings, orally paraphrase and summarize texts, and reflect on the texts in oral discussion, write complete paragraphs with topic sentences, relevant supporting details, transition words, and concluding sentences, continue to develop listening and speaking skills.

The instructor puts a premium on active participation during the class. To meet this requirement, students are supposed to study and prepare each unit before attending each class.
