高等有機化學(一)

The objective of the advanced organic chemistry (I) is provision of a in-depth understanding of the structure of organic compounds and related reaction mechanisms. This course will be given by Prof Kwok-Kong Mong (SB 533) and Prof Yoshito Tobe (SB 353). Topics to be covered: • Chemical Bonding, Molecular Structure [Part-A chapter 1] – Prof Tobe • Stereochemistry, Conformation, and Stereoselectivity [Part-A chapter 2] – Prof Tobe • Nucleophilic Substitution [Part-A chapter 4]-Prof Tobe • Polar Addition and Eliminations [Part-A chapter 5]- Prof Mong • Carbanions and other Carbon Nucleophiles [Part A chapter 6]- Prof Mong • Alkylation of Enolates and Other Carbon Nucleophiles [Part B Chapter 1] Prof Mong

Students take the advanced organic chemistry (I) should pass a two-semester introduction course in organic chemistry. As the lectures will be given in English, students should have the English listening and writing ability.
