The Introduction to biostatistics and Stata module aims to develop students’ understanding of important statistical principles used in epidemiology research. This module will help students to acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to appraise, design, and analyze epidemiology research. The 18 teaching and practical sessions will cover key statistical principles including basic regression modelling techniques and more advanced elements. Sessions typically comprise a lecture followed by a practical session. Students should be able to conduct their own statistical analyses independently using Stata by the end of this module.

1. Session assessment (40%) – comprises 8 assessments (5% each) to be given at the end of each lecture and practical sessions 2. Summative assessment (60%) – comprises a short data analysis and report to be given towards the end of the course
