This course introduces all the building blocks for operating public transit agencies in terms of transportation engineering, transportation economics, public finance, and public policy.

1. Homework and Assignments: News briefing: 20%; Term project: 40%; Class participation: 10% (students are encouraged to ask and answer questions, contribute information, and express their views on subject matter). 2. Exams and Quizzes: Midterm exam: 30%. 3. Evaluation and Grading Policy: There are two types of work you will do during the semester: news briefing, and a term project. News briefing (15 minutes at the start of every class on Friday): Each team is expected to brief the class news/recent issues on public transit about 1 to 2 times throughout the semester. Term project: Each team needs to choose one public transport system to introduce to the class. The term project needs to cover following components: reason of selection, basic profile of the project topic, operation characteristics, advantage/disadvantage or comparison to other modes and comments. Each team has to choose a public transport system and get the approval of the instructor no later than Week 6. Each team needs to do in class presentation.
