概述
人類的無數疾病皆造始於發炎反應 (inflammatory reaction),包括感染症、藥物過敏、自體免疫病,及腫瘤侵犯引起的發炎。而免疫學研究即是了解啟動發炎反應的機制,以發展生物製劑來治癒人類的病痛。透過鑑定出各種「先天免疫受體」的抗原及所發展出來各種單株抗體及基因工程蛋白,不但具有極大的學術價值,也帶來無限商機。 Inflammatory reaction is the root cause for countless human diseases, including infectious diseases, drug-induced hypersensitivity, autoimmune diseases, and cancer invasion. Identifying antigens specific for different types of innate immunity receptors and developing corresponding monoclonal antibodies and genetically engineered proteins will not only be of great academic achievement, but will also create countless business opportunities.
