This class aims to discuss emergent research fields of optical manipulation of micro- and nanoparticles as well as proteins and to share my research reality with graduate students. The lecture consists of three parts. First, fundamental concepts of molecular excitation, relaxation, energy transfer, electron transfer, and fluorescence are explained, and necessary spectroscopy, microscopy, and imaging methods are summarized. Second, optical trapping phenomena explored in NYCU are summarized and their dynamics and mechanism are considered. Third, high potential of optical trapping in optical matter and bioscience will be introduced and explained.
