概述
學期初將聚焦在十九世紀民族主義的形成以及Eduard Hanslick常被稱為「形式主義」的音樂美學，學期中重心則放在如何透過曲式、樂種以及文化脈絡與美學思想的分析來探套作曲家如何透過音樂作品展現美學與文化意涵，學期最後則將焦點拉遠，研究音樂作品在歷史中意義的變化，以及透過詮釋學來觀察音樂作品是如何反映時代精神或是作曲家的意識。
